Shortly before Christmas, a strange piece of evidence and an ancient book drive the young detective Carolin Arends to reopen the mysterious murder case of Alexander Michalski. She doesn't yet know that her greatest enemy is time itself and that she is already in the perpetrator's sights.

The young inspector Carolin left her hometown after a failed relationship and started completely over. When Christmas is just around the corner, she tries to escape the festival of love with the help of her work. By chance she notices a strange helmet, which, as if on cue, demands all of her attention. Evidence that appears to be linked to the mystical “Book of the Etruscans.” But catastrophic investigative errors emerge from the first viewing of the old case. Evidence is missing, witnesses are disappearing and entire passages have been radically blacked out. The data on the case was also deleted in the local forensics laboratory. So, during Christmas, Carolin finds herself deeply involved in the Michalski case, which cost her predecessor her job a few years ago. The only support is her colleague Thomas, who would prefer to spend Christmas at home.

What the two of them don't know at this point is that the mentally ill scientist Victoria Montes escaped from the psychiatric clinic at the same time and is also looking for the book and the murderer. Victoria Montes turns to her only hopes for help in this endeavor: Michael, the late Michalski's best friend, and Prof. Brannon, a history professor. A race against time begins. To make matters worse, the book that people say can change the course of things also seems to be active. Meanwhile, Michalski's murderer, who has gone into hiding, has noticed the increased efforts to find the book and solve the case. Shortly before Christmas he mingles with the people to stop Carolin and Victoria.
